Top 15 Most Frequently Asked Questions In Luxury Boudoir
The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their sessions, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 15 most frequent questions to give you some insight into preparing for a boudoir session with me!
Do you share my images?
Our number one priority is making sure our clients are comfortable and able to express themselves with the highest level of privacy. Boudoir can be a life-changing experience, but that also makes it nerve-wracking! Sometimes, you are learning how to love your body and you aren't quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse and aren't for anyone else's eyes. These are both great reasons for not sharing your photos. During the Reveal and Ordering Appointment, after seeing all of their images, we ask our clients if they would like to give us a model release. They have the option to give no release—meaning we don't share their images with anyone, but they can share them with those they choose. An anonymous release—meaning we can share their images, but their full face will never be in the photo (we do not blur out any self-identifying markers such as scars or tattoos). Or a full release—which allows us to share their images as we see fit. We personally do not share any images with full nudity, as we respect our clients' privacy on the matter and will always blur those out. If our clients allow us to share their images, they can choose to give us a release date, so we will not share the images until then (wedding, anniversary, gift, etc.).
Do I have to wear lingerie?
We have a client closet with over 100 pieces of lingerie ranging from XS to 3XL that our clients can borrow from during their session if they choose. However, you definitely don't have to specifically wear lingerie; it depends on your personality! There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little things! Do you have payment plans?
We offer a few payment options! There is a session fee that is due at booking to schedule your shoot. As for our products and digitals, we do require a prepayment plan for your desired collection leading up to your shoot. We also accept cash, credit cards, and PayPal Credit for any additional purchases made at your Reveal and Ordering appointment.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup are included in all of our luxury boudoir sessions! I think it's really important to feel pampered on your big day, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do just that! Our amazing team can help complete your look, whether that's "I just woke up like this" or full-on glam! If you have any inspiration photos for the look you are after, you can send them to us leading up to your shoot, and we can try to incorporate them! All we ask is that you arrive with a clean face and dried hair! For our curly-haired girlies, we do ask that you arrive with your hair ready to go.
Do you Photoshop my images?
Yes and no. We do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance, and smooth out any cellulite and blemishes you may have. However, we are strong proponents of "less is more" when it comes to editing imperfections for boudoir. Part of the process is accepting yourself and seeing your beauty for what it is, not a Photoshopped, unrealistic version. There may be parts of yourself that you are learning to love and aren't thrilled about, and that's okay! We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look absolutely beautiful and want to bring out your shine!
Where should I buy outfits?
Leading up to your shoot, we send out a list of our top 20 places to shop as it really depends on what you are after! To name a few, we have Amazon, Shein, Temu, Torrid, Forever Yours. If you are looking for something specific that you can't find, let me know, and I might know where to get it!
What type of print products do you have?
We offer a variety of albums, folio boxes, and metal wall art! Our luxury albums are a client favorite as they are hand-bound in Portugal and made of super nice thick material that will last. With so many cover options to choose from, you can find one that fits your style perfectly.
Do you offer digitals?
Corresponding digitals are included in most of our collections, with our higher collections including all digitals. They are also available as an add-on to any folio box or album purchase from the à la carte list.
I'm freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
Nerves are all part of the experience! Most of my clients come in nervous as hell if it's their first time doing a boudoir shoot. Honestly, it would probably be weird if you WEREN'T nervous. The nervousness in the beginning usually wears off during hair and makeup, and if not, the first sneak peek during the shoot does the trick! When my clients see the back of my camera after one of the first poses, it's like "WOW, that's me???" And it's smooth sailing from there! As for my seasoned vets who've done a shoot or two, they come in ready to rock their session like it's just another day! Still not sure? Busting Excuses should be our middle name because we’ve heard it all! When it’s all said and done, the only regret our clients have is not doing a boudoir shoot sooner!
How many outfits should I bring?
All of our full boudoir sessions come with 2+ outfit changes, unless you choose to enhance your experience. I always tell my clients, if they are on the fence about bringing an outfit, BRING IT! It's better to have it and not need it than to leave it behind and wish you had brought it! I've had clients walk in with nothing but the clothes on their back ready to try on from the client closet, to some that bring 30+ pieces because they can't decide. While you are in hair and makeup, we look at any outfits you may have brought and pull anything from the client closet if needed. Should I get to my shoot early?
Nope! The session day is all about you, so feel free to arrive right on time! If you do arrive early, please do not come into the studio more than 10 minutes early, as we may still be getting things ready. We have our hair and makeup artist arrive at the same time as you, so she can get things set up while we discuss any outfits you may have brought, or if we need to pull any from the client closet.
Where is your studio located?
Our in-home studio is located in Cabot, Arkansas! With lots of natural light beaming through during our sessions, it helps make your skin glow and hair shine while giving all the colors that extra pop without any additional editing. I've handpicked every item in the space, from our velvet blue couch to our vintage mirror, and all the shrubbery in between.
I don’t know how to pose. Will you help?
Absolutely! We give super easy-to-follow instructions and coach you on your facial expressions, how to pose, where to look, where to put your hands and feet, and even how to stand! What would I do with my boudoir portraits?
Honestly, I believe boudoir is one of the best gifts you can give YOURSELF. The images we create capture you during this era of your life and show you how strong, powerful, and beautiful you really are. With an album, you can look back at this time and remember all of those things. How long does the shoot last?
On average, our clients are in the studio for about 4 hours between their professional hair and makeup and the shoot itself. Then we will have you back in the studio for your private 2-hour reveal and ordering appointment within a week!
